Premier League: International Break Is What Some Clubs Need?

The European League is on break because of the World Cup qualifying games. The major leagues being the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A and French Ligue One has seen some clubs struggle. Among them, Manchester United has splashed out 89 million pounds for Paul Pogba but they have not been consistent. How would the break impact on some clubs and how bad do they need it?
Jose Mourinho lashed out at his coaches in Manchester United’s game against Zorya. Fans and pundits thought that the coaches were at fault for United’s poor showing that led to a narrow 1-0 win. Against Stoke City on Sunday, United lacked the sharpness upfront and had to rely on Anthony Martial to come from the bench and apply his own magic.

Stoke City’s season has not been the best but Joe Allen salvaged a point for his team. This comes as a good time for United to rebuild. Up till the first international break at this time, Manchester United had won three out of three but currently; they have 13 points having added just 4 points to the 9 they had before the first break.

Another team that has gone off is Chelsea. Chelsea was at par with Manchester United and Manchester City before the break. Conte and his men drew on the road at Swansea, lost to Liverpool and Arsenal and finally won against Hull City. Chelsea’s
season go hand in hand with Manchester United as Conte’s men have added just 4 points to the 9 they accrued before the first break.

It is no surprise to see Sunderland at the bottom of the English Premier League with just 2 points from a possible 21. As always they know what they are doing and the team would definitely come back to life in the middle of the season. With Big Sam out of the England job and David Moyes overseeing Sunderland’s abysmal run, is his job safe now that Big Sam is out there watching?

West Ham has lost Andre Ayew and their season has so far been worse compared to the stance the team achieved last season at this stage of the competition.
The international break has come at the appropriate time to help such teams in order to re-strategize, get everything together, gain psychological freedom and come back and sail on in the league.

Tottenham did well on Sunday to perk Manchester City back ensuring that the league is open.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Sunderland and West Ham should take a lot of positives from the break, re-strategize and light up the league when it resumes because at the moments the on and off performances has seen the teams linger in the shadows of the English Premier League.
